Let’s face it in today’s business climate mobility is the key and those that can respond more quickly to situations and opportunities are the ones that make the sales. It’s becoming more apparent every day that businesses are catching on and a business laptop computer is in your future if you don’t have one already.
Businesses have started to reduce their foot print out of sheer necessity as a response to economic conditions and one of the ways they are doing it is by providing employees with a laptop and then sending them home to work. Gone are the days where you have to sit behind a desk in a corporate office building in order to perform your job. If you’re a small business person then take a page from the corporate guys that are maximizing their time by using a business laptop computer.
Yes a business laptop computer is going to be in your future one way or another, so let’s pick one out and start being more productive and earning more cash.
Here are some things to look for in business laptop computers.
Performance:
How much machine do you need? That’s a big question right and it all depends on what the main gist of your business is. Are you crunching numbers, heavy into graphics or video production? Once you answer this question you can then pick out the machine that best suits your needs. If you’re getting into an internet business then get the highest end machine you can afford. When you’re involved in the internet you never know where the next marketing trend will take you, so be prepared.
Storage Space:
This will probably be a non issue in most cases, since laptops today come with sufficient hard drive space to suit most needs, that is unless of course you are a digital pack rat. One area I would suggest additional storage space is if you are into creating videos, then I would suggest you buy an additional portable hard drive. You can get a 1.5 terabyte drive now for a little over $100.00 on sale.
Ruggedness:
Or as we like to say “Does it take a lickin and keep on tickin?” Well it’s not originally our saying, but it gets the point across. If you are rough on things make sure that you get a machine that has the appropriate sturdiness, you’ll be glad you did.
Connectivity:
I really don’t think it’s possible to by a business laptop computer any more that does not have some sort of Wi-Fi ability built in. Now that doesn’t mean you are going to be covered for an internet connection once you leave Starbucks, for that you will need an air card for laptops and an account with your favorite cell provider such as Verizon or T-Mobile.
Style:
Ok so why is this important? Well quite frankly you are a business person and since perception is reality, if you pull out a laptop that looks crappy (technical term) then the perception might also be that your work is crappy or worse yet undependable. Classy is always better, so err on the side of classy!
